今年是南京外国语学校方山分校教育教学质量攻坚年，我校初高中英语教研组坚持教研引领，不断优化课堂，创新教学理念，努力提升教育教学质量。

All NFLSFC teachers have been working hard this year to further improve education and teaching at our school, with the English Department being no exception to this. The English teachers have been striving to enhance educational outcomes by following the guidance of teaching and research, improving their lessons and being innovative in their teaching.

教研引领 提质增效

“问渠那得清如许，为有源头活水来。”开学至今，英语教研组根据《南外方山英语教研组建设要求》，加强各备课组建设，组织了一系列促进课堂质量提升的教研活动。

There is a saying: “The lower stretches of a river are kept clean by the head-waters”. Since the establishment of NFLSFC, the English Department has organized a range of professional development workshops to help the department and its teachers improve.

结合语言学习特点，高中英语老师还花时间、心思为学生布置特色教室，让学生能沉浸在语言环境中学习成长。

Senior High teachers have dedicated time to decorating their classrooms, providing students with an immersive learning environment perfect for learning a language.

为“国培计划”教师培训班开设示范课

Giving demonstration classes to other teachers as part of the “National Training Program”

孔小囡老师、刘海艳老师、韦竞老师、徐晗宇老师、鲁丹老师、吴晓艳老师先后在千人剧场为“国培计划”教师培训班开设示范课，为教师们创造了一个互相展示、交流、学习的平台，对提升英语教学质量起到了积极的推动作用。

Ms. Kong, Ms. Liu, Ms. Wei, Ms. Xu, Ms. Lu and Ms. Wu each gave demonstration classes to other teachers as part of the “National Training Program”, which created a platform for teachers to present their ideas about teaching, communicate and learn from each other.

 An “open-door policy”, where other staff can enter any class to observe

英语组组织的“Learning Walk课堂分享”活动、各备课组组内互相听课研讨活动、教师职业发展和创意教学方法分享活动、延续至今的随机听课活动等，都有效促进了教师的专业化成长，让教师们能在以后的工作中取得更好的教学效果。

During “Learning Walk” Week, teachers were able to observe classes and learn from each other, alongside taking part in professional development and creative teaching workshops. Teachers also had an “open-door policy” during this week, where other teachers could observe classes. This was helpful for teachers’ professional development, improving their effectiveness as educators.

他山之石，可以攻玉。“走出去”也是教研活动的重要组成部分，本学期老师们赴苏州外国语学校参加外研社组织的“2019全国外国语学校教学论坛”活动，并及时给大家做分享，使英语教研组的老师们受益匪浅，开阔了眼界，提高了能力。

It is said that one can improve oneself by paying heed to advice from a variety of sources, so the English teachers also took part in activities off-campus. Some teachers went to Suzhou Foreign Language School to attend the event “2019 National Foreign Language School Teaching Forum” organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. Upon their return, they shared their learning with other teachers, helping them to grow and improve as educators.

特色课程如火如荼

为促进学生全面发展，英语教师队伍中西融合，保质保量完成教育教学工作。高中部引进了南外本部Model United Nations、Facing History和Drama英语类选修课，根据我校实际情况改编和重组，建立起我校自己的英文选修课体系，并延展课程进入各个学部。初中部开设英语写作课和Advanced English。同时，英语组不断创新选修课程，积极开展Business Simulation和The World Scholar’s Cup选修课程建设，丰富学生活动，提高学生综合能力。

 The English Department has both Chinese and foreign teaching staff, helping to give students comprehensive and high quality education. Senior High offers a range of elective courses adapted from NFLS, such as the Model United Nations, Facing History and Drama, alongside English Writing and Advanced English. English writing classes and Advanced English are offered in the junior high school. At the same time, the English Department continues to offer even more elective courses and plans to start Business Simulation and The World Scholar ’s Cup, two elective courses which will enrich the range of activities available to students and improve their all-around abilities.

让教学质量提升成为每一位师生的共同价值追求和自觉行为，南外方山分校初高中英语教研组的每一天都是崭新的、精彩而有意义的。接下来，初高中全体英语教师将继续攻坚教育教学质量，推进教育教学水平再上新台阶。

The English Department has made improving teaching quality one of its core missions, with every teacher and student making a conscious effort to make each and every day different and meaningful. Our teachers will continue working hard to make sure the department and teaching can further improve.
